I want to start by saying that I see myself as someone who is very strong in his faith. I believe that the best way to strengthen one's faith is to question it.
So after class I started thinking about truth.... The first thing I thought about is how I (like most people) like to think I know what truth is. Then as I began to think deeper I realized that truth isn't something you can put your finger on. It isn't a situation thing, nor is it a religious thing. If you think in a very small sense of the word you can tell whether someone is telling the truth or not. Like "this pen is black" and stupid menial things like that. But if you start to expand the word to the larger meaning it's almost impossible to decipher what "Truth" is. Truth is something that is based off of one's beliefs. For instance, I believe that Christianity is "Truth" and the only way to the Father is to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and salvation. But that is a personal "truth." Am I 110% sure what's going to happen when I die? Heck no! But I believe with all that I am that it is something like what I read in the Bible. When will I know what the Truth is? When I die. Someone can believe things like: The world is going to end in 2012. The only thing that separates this "crazy" statement from being Truth is the fact that it hasn't happened yet. If someone wants to believe that as their truth and expect to die in 2012 that's their life and choices. Our personal beliefs and opinions are what influence what we believe to be "Truth." One of the hardest things to prove is a Truth. Especially since the biggest thing backing up most of them is FAITH.
I agree with this. You can't have truth without faith because noone can ever say something is 100% true. Believing in something is up to the individual and it is up to them to put faith in what they believe to make it a truth for them. Everyone may not have the same truths, but for the most part Christians can agree on most truths, like that Jesus is our Lord and Savior who died for our sins. We have to have faith daily in order to believe and live by this as a truth
